Serum myostatin and irisin as predictive biomarkers of sarcopenia, malnutrition and mortality in patients with decompensated liver cirrhosis

چکیده

Malnutrition and sarcopenia are nowadays considered the main complications of liver cirrhosis (LC). Myokines signal peptides synthesized in muscles that regulate muscle strength mass mediate crosstalk between skeletal other organs. It is unknown whether circulating myokines can be used as biomarkers malnutrition have independent prognostic value LC. The purpose study was to assess relationship serum levels myostatin irisin with nutritional status, survival decompensated LC patients. 74 patients (55.30±11.40 years) were involved prospective study. Nutritional status assessed using Patient-Generated Subjective Global Assessment, Skeletal Muscle Index. concentration determined by enzyme immunoassay. Statistical data processing performed SPSS22 (© SPSS Inc.). established not related severity according Child-Turcotte-Pugh, Model For End-Stage Liver Disease, grade ascites. Patients overt encephalopathy higher levels. severe hypoalbuminemia lower development associated increased decreased concentration. Serum level predict (AUC 0.834 males 0.827 females, p<0.01). 0.830, p<0.001). mortality high (above 5.25 ng/ml 3.55 females) low (less than 1.72 ng/ml) significantly higher. In conclusion, may useful assessment prediction

BINDING OF NAPROXEN TO SERUM PROTEINS IN PATIENTS WITH LIVER CIRRHOSIS AND HEALTHY INDIVIDUALS

A three-fold decrease of the in vitro ability of serum proteins to bind naproxen was shown in patients with cirrhosis of the liver compared to healthy individuals. This decrease was caused by quantitative changes in serum proteins in the sera of patients with liver damage. Lower doses of naproxen are therefore suggested in the treatment of patients with liver dysfunction.

Serum Leptin Is a Biomarker of Malnutrition in Decompensated Cirrhosis

BACKGROUND AND AIMS Malnutrition is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality in cirrhosis. There is no consensus as to the optimal approach for identifying malnutrition in end-stage liver disease. The aim of this study was to measure biochemical, serologic, hormonal, radiographic, and anthropometric features in a cohort of hospitalized cirrhotic patients to characterize biomarkers for identif...

The Relationship between Serum Levels of Irisin with Cardiometabolic Biomarkers in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes

Background: Diabetes and obesity are associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease. Irisin is a newly recognized peptidic myokine with anti-obesity and anti-diabetic properties. This study aims to investigate the relationship between serum irisin levels with cardiometabolic biomarkers in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Methods: In this comparative cross- sectional s...

Management of Coagulopathy in Patients with Decompensated Liver Cirrhosis

Patients with decompensated liver cirrhosis have significantly impaired synthetic function. Many proteins involved in the coagulation process are synthesized in the liver. Routinely performed tests of the coagulation are abnormal in patients with decompensated liver cirrhosis. This has led to the widespread belief that decompensated liver cirrhosis is prototype of acquired hemorrhagic coagulopa...
